AMA San Antonio 2021 - 2022 President, Heidi
Greetings AMA San Antonio Members!
On July 1st, 2021 I continued as president of the AMA San Antonio Chapter for 2021-2022. I’m honored to serve our nationally recognized, award-winning AMA chapter. AMA San Antonio is comprised of San Antonio’s top marketing professionals and influencers, and we serve as your greatest support system and resource.
Many of us believed we would be completely finished with the pandemic by now. Things are slowly progressing to our next normal with in-person events. In August, we held our first event since February 2020 at Paesanos which featured a representative from TikTok on how to use their platform. Everyone enjoyed the program and networking with each other once again!
This brings us to this year’s theme: #Reignite! We will be restoring what we had to stop in 2020, reimagining events and activities to take advantage of what we learned this past year, and #Reginiting AMA San Antonio in the marketing community. Look for networking events both live and on Zoom in addition to our events at Paesanos.
You may have noticed that our events now and in the previous year mostly featured speakers from minority groups. We signed the AMA National chapter pledge to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our chapter and our activities. We will work to hold events at minority-owned businesses as well. October 5th, we held our first in-person networking happy hour at Weathered Souls Brewery. Weather Souls is the only black-owned brewery in Texas, and their beer, Black is Beautiful, is now selling in Wal-Mart!
We have assembled an outstanding group of San Antonio marketing professionals serving on the 2021-2022 Board of Directors. Most have continued to serve from last year bringing with them experience as we emerge from the pandemic.
Learning from last year, our Marketing Excellence Awards were again live-streamed on Facebook from Alamo Beer Company. Winners were announced in the live stream, and they gathered their awards in the biergarten while enjoying food and beer on the outdoor patio. Typically, our awards are in June, but things weren’t exactly ready to re-open in March when we had to plan our June event. As we #Reignite this year, look for our Marketing Excellence Awards to once again be held in June 2022 at Magnolia Halle or another venue.
I’d like to thank our current and past volunteers personally and publicly—especially our past president, Judy Razo. AMA San Antonio is a non-profit and a completely volunteer organization. We could not provide events for the San Antonio marketing community without our volunteers, and we would not be the organization we are today without the dedication of our current and past board members and volunteers.
Given that we are volunteer-driven, we can always use some help to achieve our goals. You too could have a chance to learn and try new ideas as well as lead in a way that you may not be able to in your workplace. Plus, there is networking with other marketers in the community. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. Let’s #Reignite!
Sincerely,
Heidi Proctor
